Hyundai i20 N Rally1 – a fusion of technology, safety, and top performance from 2024.

The Hyundai i20 N Rally1 is a top-tier Rally1 class rally car developed and used by Hyundai Motorsport in the World Rally Championship (WRC) since 2022.

This model was created in response to the new FIA technical regulations, which introduced significant changes—including mandatory hybrid powertrains, stronger safety structures, and a universal safety cell developed in collaboration with the FIA, Toyota, and M-Sport.

The new regulations required the design of an entirely new vehicle, prompting Hyundai to retire the previous i20 Coupe WRC and develop the i20 N Rally1. The car is based on a reinforced steel chassis with a shorter wheelbase and a completely new structure designed for maximum safety and performance. During 2021, the model underwent intensive testing on various surfaces, including gravel and asphalt, with Thierry Neuville and Oliver Solberg behind the wheel.

The Hyundai i20 N Rally1 was officially unveiled to the public on January 15, 2022, at a ceremony held in Red Bull’s Hangar-7 in Salzburg, alongside competing models Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 and Ford Puma Rally1.

The pinnacle of this car’s career so far came in the 2024 season when Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe won the drivers’ world championship title, further cementing the Hyundai i20 N Rally1’s status as one of the most successful and advanced vehicles of the new hybrid era in the WRC.
